Microwave a potato

1. Take a medium-sized potato.
2. Cut two deep slices in it, like a hot cross bun.
3. Microwave it on high for five minutes.
4. Sprinkle it with salt, maybe spread butter if you're feeling buttery.

Et voila.

If the potato is larger or your microwave is weaker, five minutes may not be enough. Also if it needs microwaving longer, flipping it over midway through is good, so it's not hard and dry on the bottom.

Alternative for people who cannot do knives: stab it with a fork a few times instead of cutting it.

A paper towel underneath the potato is nice for not getting juice on the turntable.
